Ashley O’Neill gets involved beyond the Quinnipiac Community

While one of Quinnipiac’s missions is to mold their students into valued members of the local community, sophomore Ashley O’Neill got a head start on her service.

O’Neill is involved in the Honors Program, the sorority Phi Sigma Sigma, and served as a peer catalyst for QU 101, Quinnipiac’s seminar class that focuses heavy on the idea of community. However, getting involved is nothing new to O’Neill.

During the summer, O’Neill also works for Camp Nokomis in Laconia, N.H., where she teaches sailing and kayaking to little kids.

“The people there are amazing and probably the most genuine, down to earth and caring people,” says O’Neill. “It’s one of my greatest experiences and fortunate jobs to have.”

She believes the lessons she’s learned over the seven years at the camp have applied to success in team building and business at Quinnipiac.

“In the business school we are constantly doing business projects, and it helps having team skills and being able to work and create a strong and well communicative group,” says O’Neill.

O’Neill plans to utilize those skills en route to a future career in management.
